Blogalicious Funeral Suits

Look at me now mom. I started a blog.

New year/New gear

Its well into the new year. We don’t use this thing too much. It is good for longer rants I suppose.

We’ve been busy working on arranging the release of ‘Lily of the Valley’. Making plans…. working on new new demos, healing broken wrists and the like.

So the album is out in early June we’ll be bringing out a single around then too with a new video. We’re making a short film. I won’t mention that too much now. I don’t know how pretentious that sounds, for a band, but don’t worry it won’t be. Shaun Ryan will be at the helm with us. Planning is in its early stages but coming along nicely. We’ll see how it goes!

We’re touring in the UK and Ireland next month! Tour dates are on a fb. Check them out….

Check out this poem by Dylan Thomas too. I heard the last two lines in my sleep last night which is a little creepy and i had to search for it this morning. Its too good.

Do not go gentle into that good night

Right. i’m off to bed.

New York Je t’aime

We just played HWCH festival in Dublin last weekend. Probably one of the most fun times we’ve ever had on stage in our lives. There might even be some footage from the show for you guys to peel back your eyelids over in the future.  Anyhow with endorphins still curdling in our blood streams we’re heading to New York to play at the CMJ festival next week.

(Heres what happened the last time we played in the US http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLx7wanTAS8)

Its our first NY show and we are itching indeed. After that we’re off to Paris to do some shows with Joy Formidable in Europe. Culture here we come. We’ll bring back some presents, don’t worry!

Health is on the way

Hello there,

Our new single ‘Health’ will be released on September 26th! new news! You can check out the track over on our sound cloud. Now that’s a hyperlink. Toby Kaar has also done a very beautiful remix here. The video is coming very soon too. Oh excitement. As always we’ll be doing some shows around the release date in the UK and Ireland. If your in Dublin between the 6th and 8th of October we will be playing at the Hard Working Class Heroes festival.

We’re just back from Standon Calling festival in the UK. Think we’re all agreed that it is one of the coolest gatherings on the planet. Not a frown in town and plenty of helping hands. Total love buzz even if half the crowd were dressed as demons.

We’re back over in a week and a half for Reading (28th) and Leeds (26th) on the BBC introducing stage. If your going to either of these festivals come say hi. We’ll be back with the vid for Health soon and yes yes other things too.

love love as ever

The Lives of Brothers

So where were we then? And how is everybody?  We’re just back from shows in Galway and Sea Sessions….. rain cold rain rain and then total blistering heat in Dublin! Hell yes we say!!

With typical Funeral Suits luck our car broke down outside Rockness Festival in Inverness a few weeks ago. We got towed all the way back to Dublin! Thanks you very much too the four AA drivers who took it in rotation to carry our broken bones home. We owe you one!

We are playing at Wireless in London next Sunday and then we’re playing the Old Blue Last the Monday after and its FREE in at door. Come on we can shake off Blue Monday together!

OK so one thing before I go…. I read Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the first time a few weeks ago. Such a good book!! Me and a friend watched the film the other night. What is the deal with Mr Yunioshi in the film??? Seriously…

Much love

Post Great Escape debauch

Home once again, but from the Great Escape festival in Brighton this time! What a turbulent two weeks (in air miles and otherwise). The Great Escape was great…. Brighton it seems a wet dream of a town from first encounters. Well it is nice to be beside the seaside, ice cream in hand and not on the ground as does happen some times. We played some fun shows there and met some really nice folks. From Brighton we went up too London and had a good night playing in King’s College.

Bristol ruined us. We were lucky to make it back to London with the skin on our back. We woke up on the bus to London with the keys of a Honda Jazz belonging to one Sarah Kahn in our pocket. It was a busy night. The keys were returned on the next bus to Bristol.

Now to more pressing matters. Due to gremlins on the train the release of Colour Fade is pushed back too the 29th of May! So you can go and purchase it on the internets then. We do have a few nice things we’re working on for you so keep an eye out.

Austin we love you…..

….. but after 24hrs on planes and in the airport we’re glad to be back in our town.
SXSW was savage and Austin is such a cool place, can’t wait to play there again. We’ve all come back with slightly less pale skin and hyped up on vitamin D. The summer can’t come soon enough now!
OK so now for some long over due news…. We shall be releasing Colour Fade as a 7” and download single in early May on the Friends vs. Records label. Philip Kennedy as ever has done the artwork and there is a Crimes Against remix of Colour Fade on the b-side!
We’ll be doing shows around Ireland in April and we’ll be at the Great Escape in Brighton in May! We should be announcing more UK shows soon so keep an eye on that!

I better get back to the script. Catch y’all on the flip side.Love loveMichael

Mother Nature’s Sons

We three Sons of Mother Nature have spent the last three days stranded in the snow in the airport in London. We were meant to be playing in Brussels tonight but were not able to make it cause of flight cancellations and the general implosion of the transport network. We will be back next year!
